Exeter Trees
Великобритания
Добавлен 30 окт 2011
Welcome to Exeter Trees - a growing resource of tree related study for all to enjoy. My name is Terrence Pickles and as you can guess I love trees! I hope you find this site useful as well as my connected social media platforms. I have recently been working with AI tools to create interesting and colourful varitations of the fantastic trees I have studied. All the digital tree art can be found on my Patreon account or my online shop.

Common walnut - mid canopy - August 2024
I am in Ontario (n. Of Toronto) and have same thing on the back of my verbena bonariensis (tall verbena)…. after 20 years of gardening, I’ve never seen this and Reddit and Google image search are saying they are moth eggs… Have yet to figure out which kind.
Can this tree bare fruits in a tropical climate?
I'm trying to find info on how to prune the lower branches on.mine and how many I should prune. I've gone nearly half way up the tree getting rid of the lower branches. Is that right? It's about 2/3 years old
Big silver birch
I bet they all drive there , all wearing products from abroad , it’s so easy to hold up a little sign , very difficult to walk the walk . I seen this going on down the quay in Exeter , strapping signs up with cables ties 😮 , using aerosol to paint messages on the floor , when I came back hours later all plastic ties were on the floor , paint all over the grass . But they can get away with it 😢😢
We had one of these growing in the wild along a line of Virginia cedars. It was so beautiful, but the ash borer killed it. Was awful losing it. Kids loved going under it cuz it was like a big umbrella.
That is a real shame. Weeping ash are such graceful trees and their twisty / turny upper branches gives them such character. In the UK it's ash dieback that is a real problem for a lot of our ash trees. The one in this video is still with us thankfully.
Great.
I have male plant ...i it possible for fruting with male plants
FIRST!!!!!!!!!
Why don’t you film that tree on a windier day?
Scrat from Ice Age is obsessed with that acorn
Will they dry out and die? :( my dad has 4 tall trees that got this can they be saved? What do we put on them ? We have had them for the past 35yrs so nice now they got this 😔
Water 1liter + chlorides 100 ml= spray on the black slime,do it 14 days straight and it hells (i m doing it now, cross fingers)
Like the music
We have a lot of these in Torquay
where is this at ? Ive not heard of blue atlas cedars . .
This Blue atlas cedar tree is at the front area of Pinces Gardens of Exeter. I've completed a full 12 month study of this tree if you did want to learn more about them: www.exetertrees.uk/blue-atlas-cedar.html
@@ExeterTrees thank you much Come Lord Jesus Romans 10 : 9
real daffodils be like this
They grow in huge amounts in my yard in GA
In Exeter they aren't really widely planted, which is a shame as they have such interesting flowers and then the bonus of all of the fruit. I've been trying to find white mulberries in Exeter but haven't come across any yet. There is a medium sized Black mulberry in the court yard of Exeter Cathedral which is where I did most of my study on this tree. www.exetertrees.uk/black-mulberry.html
Beautiful tree. Shame it's partly got ash dieback.
I like the way it blows in the wind.
Can i eat it?
Where is this taken?
This shrub was in my backgarden - it put on such a good show of flowers I decided to upload a few videos. Most of my study is of trees and shrubs in the various public green spaces across Exeter. I haven't spotted one of these yet in a local park which is a shame as they are real stunners when in flower.
How tall is it? And what variety?
Can this tree grow in tropical countries like Indonesia? closely near the mountain
❤❤❤❤
My name's rowan- And this flower is my favorite i didn't even know that we have the same name omg-
can you propagate a new tree with the suckers?
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for uploading. The buds look pretty cool, kinda like pistachio ice cream.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉nice

nice, now what
Nice
Good
Peaceful and serene scene.
😊😊🎉🎉
Is this normal? I have the same tree in my front garden for the last 40 years. It still blooms but I noticed the trunk has this open splitting of bark.
With more mature cherry trees it's normal for the bark to have these spilts. If the spilts are quite extreme it could be frost cracks - but usually there would be causes for this such as fungi / pathogens or stress factors such as blade damage (lawn mowers / hedge strimmers). Some cherry trees are also grafted so the lower part of the tree is different that the upper part of the tree - which can lead to interesting bark patterns.
This tree seems to be infected with Ash Dieback disease.
Quite possibly. I didn't have time to fully check it out as was just walking by that part of Exeter. The reduced sections of canopy are concerning. The next time I am passing by I'll check the bark more closely as well as the buds. This is a female ash tree which study shows they do seem to be more prone to total failure from Ash Dieback compared to all-male trees. The parks and green spaces team will be doing their usual inspection of the park over the next few months so will see what the outcome for this fairly young Ash tree will be. It will be a shame if this tree is removed as it's in a very visible spot.
💜
beautiful!
Thank you
Is it edible ?
The fungi is typically too tough to be edible. It's not classed as a toxic fungi but it's not really classes as being edible or having any key uses. This is quite a good article: www.first-nature.com/fungi/ganoderma-resinaceum.php

flames!
actually l like the real one the best, but as far as the filters go, Udnie is also cool. and Waves is cool too. it would also be really neat to see pictures changing more quickly from one filter to another… I’ve always wanted to do this but not sure what software I’d use for video since I’ve mostly seen these kind of effects applied to still pictures
The AI effects are pretty good - takes a long time to even render short clips of 30 seconds. I've always used VSDC for video editing and the paid version offers these new AI effects which I was keen to try out. Most of my study is short clips of different parts of trees but I do have a fair amount of photos too. I believe the VSDC editor does offer a slideshow feature for photos - will have to give this a go later and see how it goes.
🎉🎉🎉🎉nice
Tonight, while eating some walnuts (mixed with other things including raisons), one bite in particular tasted foul! I wondered whether I had eaten a weevil larvae. I didn't notice anything in the bag nor in the remaining nuts in my hand. And continued to chow down. But in the next "grab" of nuts from the bag, noticed a LARVAE/WORM! I gasped, dropped the nuts and quickly stood up from the computer! I think I may have eaten one of this little Walnut weevil's slimly babies! YUCK! 🤮🤮🤮 (Looks like the chickens will be receiving a bag of TREATS tomorrow!)
Hi there. That does sound like a weevil made it's way into your food - I bet it was a pretty unpleasant taste! During my study I come across hundreds of Weevils in their adult form but rarely see them in their larval form. Hope the chickens got their treats!
And the spider is being peaceful that's the good thing about him
The spider was crawling on the bottom of the garden steps in broad daylight which is quite unusual as typically Woodlouse spiders hide amongst rocks, stones and debris. It didn't seem to be in any distress - other than habing a few bits of grass / hairs stuck on it's back.
I like the colors
They are interesting colours when you get to see a Woodlouse spider close up
Scots pines are beautiful
They are lovely trees. They areally stand out when the male cones are releasing pollen on a windy day.
I’m growing some sessile oak from acorns.
I hope that germinate and you can get some Oak saplings. The few Sessile oaks I've come across haven't had many acorns so I've not been able to try and grow any of my own. Hopfully next year!
thank you for the video we are a korean broadcasting company that is producing a health documentary about mistletoe now would it be okay to attach your video as a reference material for the broadcast?
Hi there. That's fine if you'd like to use that video. Please put a reference / credit to Exeter Trees. I did create a playlist on Mistletoe which currently has 62 videos and some of these are more recent. The playlist is here if you are interested: ruclips.net/p/PLJ3g3SuDBVxXGq3FBs-PfOUuCMgBEfE5I You can use any of them for your health documentary. Terrence - Exeter Trees UK
